Are you a Delta flyer with *amex platinum card* in your wallet? American Express just rolled out a new Amex offer to help you save on your next flight: Spend $180 or more booking a Delta flight (or flights) via Amex Travel, and you'll get $40 right back.
Delta and Amex team up for money-saving offers like these every now and again, but they're highly targeted. Luckily this one seems to be fairly widely available for Platinum cardholders. Sorry to travelers with a co-branded Delta American Express credit card in your wallet: You won't see this offer at all. This deal is tied specifically to the 40th anniversary of Amex's flagship (and non-Delta) travel credit card.
Log in and try to add one to your card ASAP – these Delta Amex offers often disappear quickly. Once a certain amount of cardholders add Amex Offers like this to their cards, they tend to disappear altogether.
If you haven't used Amex Offers before, you can think of them as digital coupons exclusively for Amex cardholders for purchases like airfare or hotels to dining, entertainment, or everyday shopping. Add this one to your Amex Platinum card, use that card to book an eligible Delta flight, and Amex will give you money right back for the discount within a few days as a statement credit on your account.
If you've got this one, add it to your Platinum Card and use it to make your purchase with Delta by July 5, 2024. You don't need to travel before that deadline – just book your flights beforehand.
There's one big hitch, though: You must book Delta flights through Amex Travel, the credit card company's travel portal, to trigger this money-saving offer. That means you can't just go out and book a flight at Delta.com as usual on your Platinum Card and expect to save $40.
On the plus side, you'll still earn 5x points on every dollar you spend when booking flights through the Amex Travel portal. And you'll still earn Delta SkyMiles and credits toward Delta Medallion Status, too – at least so long as you don't book a basic economy ticket.
And any Delta flight booked through Amex Travel should qualify for this offer. That includes flights eligible through Amex's International Airline Program, which can get you an even better deal flying Delta Premium Select or Delta One business class abroad. Hey, another $40 in savings doesn't hurt!
Where to Find Amex Offers
If you haven’t used Amex Offers before, simply log into your American Express account and scroll down near the bottom of the screen and there should be a box called Amex Offers & Benefits. It’s available through the Amex mobile app as well.
If you see an offer you like, simply add the offer to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card. In this case, you’ll need to book via Amex Travel – not directly with Delta – for the cashback credits to kick in.
You should receive a statement credit for the offer within a few days of making a purchase, though in some cases it can take several weeks. And keep in mind you don’t need to hit the spending threshold in one shot – you can spread it out over several transactions.

Bottom Line
This is a great and easy-to-use Amex Offer to save on upcoming Delta flights, getting $40 when booking Delta flights of $180 or more via Amex Travel. And unlike many previous Delta Amex Offers, this one seems to be fairly widely available – but only to Amex Platinum cardholders.
If that's the case, add it to your card ASAP as these Delta Amex Offers have disappeared quickly in the past. And be sure to book those flights of $180 or more by the July 5 deadline.
