Have an *amex platinum* in your wallet? It's your lucky day. American Express is out with a series of money-saving offers just for Platinum cardholders that will help you save $40 (or more!) on travel purchases like airfare, hotels, and rental cars.

They include Amex Offers for airlines like Delta and JetBlue as well as hotel stays with Hilton and rental car reservations through Hertz. There's also a promotion for a free third night on bookings at Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) and Hotel Collection Properties booked through Amextravel.com

We haven't seen this many deals being offered at once in a while. It's all part of Amex's celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Platinum Card.

Here's what you need to know to take advantage.

Amex Offers

Think of Amex Offers as digital coupons exclusively for Amex cardholders. While they're always targeted, only those with a Platinum Card will see these offers as part of the anniversary promotion.

Add one of these offers to your Amex card, use that card to book a flight, eligible hotel stay, or rental car, and Amex will give you money right back for the discount within a few days as a statement credit on your account.

Delta

Delta Air Lines and American Express have teamed up for an Amex offer that covers the most expensive travel expense for any trip – airfare. Spend a minimum of $180 on one or more Delta flights through Amex Travel and by July 5 and you'll get a $40 discount back as a statement credit when you pay with your Platinum Card.

JetBlue

Planning on flying JetBlue any time soon? Spend a minimum of $200 on one or more JetBlue flights and you'll get a $50 discount back as a statement credit when you pay with your Platinum Card.

This offer expires on August 6, but you don't need to take the flights before then, just have them booked.

Hilton

Have a trip coming up? If you are still looking for accommodations, consider staying at one or more Hilton properties spending at least $180 to save $40 received as a statement credit when you pay with your Platinum Card. Just make sure your rooms get charged well before July 31 for the statement credit to post.

Hertz

Need a ride to and from the airport while being able to drive around any time you want? Book a rental car to avoid those high rideshare rates and taxi fees by spending at least $150 or more on rental car bookings directly with Hertz to save $40 as a statement credit when you pay with your Platinum Card.

Thrifty Tip: Book an electric vehicle to avoid having to return your car with an expensive full tank of gas!

Where to Find Amex Offers

If you haven’t used Amex Offers before, simply log into your American Express account and scroll down near the bottom of the screen and there should be a box called Amex Offers & Benefits. You can do this when logged into your Amex account on either the desktop version of the site or the mobile app.

If you're using the desktop version of the American Express website, you'll find Amex Offers about halfway down the homepage. Here, you can view all the Amex Offers that are currently available, see which ones you've already added to your card, and even review your lifetime savings with the Amex Offers program.

If you're logged in to your account on a mobile device using the Amex app, you'll find a tab at the bottom with all your available Amex Offers.

Just remember that if you have multiple Amex cards, you'll need to toggle through them all, as the offers will be different for each card. If you see an offer you like, simply add the offer to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card.

You could receive a statement credit within a few days of making a purchase, but often you'll have to wait a full credit card cycle or two for it to post. This goes for earning bonus Amex points as well.

Thrifty Tip: Amex displays a maximum of 100 offers at a time. If you're not seeing the one you want, try adding a handful to your card, logging out, and then logging back in to see if you get some new ones!

Free 3rd Night for Amex Hotel Bookings

Looking for a way to maximize your $200 hotel credit?  Travelers will receive a free third night at participating Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) and The Hotel Collection properties booked through Amex Travel. While that may seem like a great deal on paper, in practice, each property has different restrictions on which dates qualify for this promotion.

Scan through the list of participating properties and search for a three-night stay. Select a property, scroll down, and click “Complimentary third night (included in avg nightly rate)” next to a room selection to read the entire terms of the deal for that particular property, noting blackout dates and any other restrictions.

The date by which you need to book your stay and when it must be completed will vary – and it can be extremely limited. For example, you have to make a three-night booking at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs (pictured above) from Feb. 1 to Sep. 26 for a stay that falls between March 1 and Sep. 30.

Regardless, you'll get to enjoy the extra perks that come with booking with a FHR or The Hotel Collection property.

Thrifty Tip: Use MaxFHR to search for the cheapest FHR properties within the required stay dates!

Bottom Line

Amex is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Platinum Card by rewarding cardholders with money-saving discounts on airfare, hotels, rental cars, and more.

These offers are exclusively for travelers with the Platinum Card in their wallet. If you have travel coming up, see if you can take advantage!
