Deeply discounted Delta SkyMiles sales have mounted a serious comeback in 2024 … including one of the cheapest deals to get to Europe and back we've ever seen.
We unearthed a massive Delta SkyMiles flash sale late last week with flights to Europe through the winter and into spring 2025 for as low as just 24,000 SkyMiles … roundtrip! You'll find the lowest rates from Boston (BOS) and New York City (JFK), but there are plenty of flights across the pond for under 40,000 SkyMiles – a fraction of what most other airlines charge – from airports all across the country.
As always, our Thrifty Traveler Premium members got first dibs on this deal when we found it. Some availability has disappeared and some award rates have increased a bit in the days since, but there are still some stellar SkyMiles deals to Europe out there.
From Amsterdam (AMS) to Dublin (DUB) to Rome (FCO) and Milan (MXP) and beyond, you won't find a cheaper way to get there.

The savings here are enormous: Most airlines typically charge 30,000 miles (or much, much more) for a one-way flight in economy to Europe – and with Delta, you're more often to see rates of 100,000 SkyMiles roundtrip or more. Depending on where you're heading, these fares get hit with a reasonable $50 to $80 or so in taxes – or closer to $200 for a roundtrip to London-Heathrow (LHR).
There are ultra-low rates whether you head to Rome (FCO), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), Lisbon (LIS), Madrid (MAD), or almost anywhere in western Europe. You're bound to find the lowest rates by booking your trip to Europe in February or early March.
Got a Delta SkyMiles card like the *delta skymiles gold card* in your wallet? You're in luck: You'll get the best deal thanks to the TakeOff 15 benefit. That 15% discount brings these roundtrip fares as low as under 24,000 SkyMiles.
Unfortunately, the lowest rates in this deal are on Delta's pesky basic economy award fares. That means you won't be able to pick a seat for free – and you'll forfeit a sizable 19,900 SkyMiles if you decide to cancel your ticket later on. It could be well worth the extra 15,000o or so to book a main cabin fare, getting free seat selection and cancellation to get all your SkyMiles back if plans change.
While you'll find the lowest rates from East Coast hubs like Boston and New York, there are sizable savings from airports nationwide – just search from your home airport! For example, these roundtrip flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Amsterdam (AMS) for under 38,000 SkyMiles are still a serious bargain.

Don't have the SkyMiles you need to book these flights? You might: Delta is an Amex transfer partner, so you can send points to your SkyMiles account from cards like amex_plat or the amex_gold instantly to your Delta account and book minutes later.
Most of these fares get hit with a reasonable $80 to $100 or so in taxes – though that clocks in closer to $200 roundtrip if you're flying in and out of London. Either way, that's a small price to pay when SkyMiles rates are this low.
Thrifty Tip #1: Got Amex airline fee credits to burn on cards like amex_plat? Use your card to book this fare and cover those fees!
Thrifty Tip #2: Make sure to use Delta’s “Price Calendar” feature when searching for award rates to find the best deals over a five-week span.

Getting to Europe and back for half the miles other airlines charge is a steal – especially when it includes destinations like Milan (MXP), Rome (FCO), and more.
These sales are one of the main reasons why we value SkyMiles more than most. They're truly the best way to use your SkyMiles. And the fact that you can lock in a trip to Europe for as low as just 24,000 SkyMiles? You can't beat that.
