Huge Bilt Rent Day Transfer Bonus: Up to 100% More Alaska Miles!

Bilt is back with another Rent Day promotion … and it might be the best yet. On July 1, Bilt Rewards is offering a one-day-only transfer bonus to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, with massive bonuses if you've climbed the ranks of Bilt status.

Even everyday Bilt members get at least a 25% bonus when transferring Bilt points to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan – and up to a 100% bonus to double your Alaska miles at the top Platinum tier of Bilt status. Think of these transfer bonuses as a way to get free points and miles: You won't have to transfer as many points as you normally would to book an award flight through Alaska.

Here's how the transfer bonuses shake out, depending on your Bilt status level:

  • Blue (basic members): Get a 25% bonus on transfers to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
  • Silver: Get a 50% bonus on transfers to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
  • Gold: Get a 75% bonus on transfers to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
  • Platinum: Get a 100% bonus on transfers to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

If you're an everyday Blue member, you'll need to transfer a minimum of 2,000 points to be eligible for the 25% bonus. And this transfer bonus has a cap: You can transfer no more than 50,000 Bilt points to get these bonuses. Just like previous Rent Day promotions, you'll need to act fast: These bonuses are only available next Monday, July 1!

If you've climbed up the tiers of Bilt status, there's more to love than just some bonus Alaska Mileage Plan miles. There's also a path to match to automatic Alaska elite status through the rest of the year by transferring at least 10,000 Bilt point transfer to the airline. Sadly, that transfer will not count towards a transfer bonus.

Here's everything you need to know about this month's Rent Day promo.

How Good are These Bonuses?

If you've got a stash of Bilt points, even the 25% transfer bonus offered to Blue status members is a fantastic way to increase the value of your points.

Added just a few months back (at the expense of American Airlines, which just officially disappeared from the list of transfer partners), Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is perhaps the most lucrative mileage program among all U.S. airlines. While the miles are harder to earn (unless you're a frequent Alaska flyer) and the airline doesn't even fly beyond the U.S., Canada, Mexico, or Central America, it has several airline partners as part of the Oneworld alliance. And it goes beyond that with more partners outside of the alliance, too.

Although Alaska has pivoted to a new, distance-based award chart back in November, there are still several sweet spots to take advantage of with Alaska miles.

West coasters like myself can book a trip to the Hawaiian islands for 12,500 Alaska miles each way, paying only $12 in taxes roundtrip! That's a steal for what can often be an expensive trip.

Speaking of expensive, how's flying in the front of the plane for a change? Alaska recently teamed up with Taiwanese carrier Starlux, allowing you to book their excellent business class seats to Taipei (TPE) for just 75,000 Alaska miles each way.

Alaska also partners with German carrier Condor Airlines. Just 55,000 Alaska miles is all you need to get from the East Coast to Frankfurt (FRA) in Condor business class.

Thanks to a quirk with the airline's pricing, you can sometimes score even cheaper business class awards to Europe by tacking on a connection in economy: Just 45,000 points each way!

Now you see how valuable Alaska miles are! Factor in these massive transfer bonuses of 25%, 50%, or even 100%, and these great award redemptions get even better.

Elite Status Match

Transferring Bilt points can even get you Alaska status through the end of 2024.

Exactly which Alaska status you can get depends on your current Bilt status. But between June 25 and July 1…

  • Bilt Platinum Members will be able to activate Alaska MVP Gold Status
  • Bilt Gold Members can unlock Alaska MVP Status

That complimentary Alaska status will last through Dec. 31. But Bilt is handling this status match promotion separately from the transfer bonus: The 10,000-point transfer minimum to earn an automatic status match will not count toward the transfer bonus.

With MVP status, you'll get the lowest tier of benefits that Alaska offers. Usually requiring you to earn 20,000 elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) flying on any Oneworld partner airline, you'll gain access to a host of valuable benefits like complimentary upgrades, priority check-in and boarding, and corresponding Oneworld Ruby benefits when flying with other partner airlines. Personally, I like my free checked bag benefit when flying domestically on an economy ticket.

But MVP Gold is where things really pay off. In addition to all the other perks above, that also unlocks the Oneworld alliance's Sapphire status: getting you business class lounge access when traveling internationally, among many other perks with Oneworld airlines. Sadly, domestic flights do not get complimentary access to lounges like the Alaska Lounge and Admirals Club – even on a first-class ticket.

Earn Double Points on Rent Day

As always, there's another thing to keep in mind on Rent Day: You'll earn double the points (up to 10,000 bonus points) for every non-rent dollar spent on your *bilt rewards card* on the first of the month.

So long as you make at least five purchases each statement cycle, you'll earn points at the following rates on Rent Day:

  • 6x Bilt points on dining (usually 3x); 16x at Bilt Dining restaurants
  • 4x Bilt points on travel (usually 2x)
  • 2x Bilt points on other spend (usually 1x)

This is all in addition to the 1x Bilt points you earn on rent payments with the Bilt Mastercard.

Other Rent Day Staples

There's more in store for Bilt members on July 1.

You can (and should) participate in Bilt's “Point Quest” Trivia for a chance to win additional Bilt points. It works like this: Boot up your Bilt Rewards app on July 1, answer five questions, and win up to 150 Bilt Points. Answer all five questions correctly and you’ll get a bonus bonus question worth another 100 Bilt Points – for a total of 250 Bilt Points.

Point Quest is free to play, no matter if you've got a Bilt Rewards Card or not … and most importantly, it's fun!

Also returning from previous months is Bilt's “Rent Free” game show which gives Bilt Rewards members the opportunity to earn a month's worth of free rent by guessing three of the most popular answers to several different questions. Each month Bilt brings on a well-known individual to play its Family Feud-esque game show and determine how much free rent will be paid.

This month's guest is chef, author, YouTuber, and influencer, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham. You can play Rent Free beginning June 25 at 12 p.m. ET.

Finally, Rent Day Rides is returning for another month. Bilt members can reserve a complimentary bike at one of the more than 50 SoulCycle locations around the country. One lucky rider at all the studios participating in Rent Day Rides will even win a free month of rent, courtesy of Bilt.

How to Use Bilt Rewards Points

Just because the points can be fairly difficult to earn doesn't mean they aren't useful – just the opposite. There are many ways to use Bilt points. And once you've got them, they're some of the most valuable points in the world of travel.

The easiest way to use them is to book through the Bilt Rewards travel portal, where each point will be worth 1.25 cents apiece. That means 10,000 Bilt points are worth $125 toward travel.

But you'll get the best value for your Bilt points by transferring points to one of its 14 travel partners, including World of Hyatt, Alaska Airlines, Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles, United Mileage Plus, and British Airways Avios, among many others.

Just keep in mind that unless you've earned Bilt status, you'll need to transfer a minimum of 2,000 points to get started.

If you prefer to use your points for something other than travel, Bilt recently introduced the ability to “cash out” Bilt Rewards points  (at a rate of .55 cents per point) by applying them as a statement credit to the outstanding balance on your Bilt Rewards Card. At approximately a half-cent per point, redeeming them this way represents poor value and should really only be done as a last resort.

Prior Rent Day Promotions

Over the months, Bilt has done a good job leveraging its partners to come up with some really creative (and often incredibly lucrative) promotions. While not every month's promo is a home run for travelers, the majority of Bilt's Rent Day promos do a good job engaging members on a day that's otherwise un-celebrated.

Here's a look back at some of the other Rent Day promotions from the past year:

Most of Bilt's Rent Day promotions are centered on travel and even the ones that aren't are still valuable for most Bilt Rewards members. Looking at prior Rent Day promos, you have to wonder how Bilt will continue to raise the bar in the new year.

Bottom Line

Bilt Rewards' Rent Day promo for July is a good one for travelers. On July 1 – and only July 1 – you can get between 25% and 100% more points when transferring to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, depending on your Bilt status.

If you've got a *Bilt Mastercard* in your wallet, you'll earn even more when you spend on the first of the month.
